Tata Tigor
-
The Tata Tigor 2025 is the carmaker’s sub-4 metre sedan which has been on sale since 2017. It shares its underpinning with the Tiago hatchback and is known for its solid build quality.
-
Tata Motors has given minor tweaks to the 2025 Tigor’s design in the form of a tweaked grille and LED headlights. It continues with the LED DRLs mounted on the bumper and dual-tone alloys. The Tata Tigor is still a good looking car despite its age.
-
Inside, the 2025 Tata Tigor’s dashboard has been updated with a new brown / off-white colour scheme and a 2-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo. It can accommodate three reasonably sized adults with decent kneeroom in the back seat.
-
Top features on the 2025 Tata Tigor include a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front seat armrests, a 6-speaker sound system and a semi-digital instrument cluster.

Which variant of Tata Tigor is best?
The XZ Plus variant of the Tigor is worth the money if you want your car to be well-loaded. It has a 10.25-inch infotainment display, a rear parking camera, auto AC, auto headlights and an 8-speaker sound system. It's the one-below top-spec variant and the top-end doesn’t add a lot in extra. That said, if you are okay with a smaller 7-inch infotainment, the mid-spec XZ variant is also a good option to look out for.

We especially like:
The Supernova Copper gives a shade of sportiness to the car. If you want something more sophisticated you should opt for the Daytona Grey. That is also less prone to dust compared to the other colours.

As of now, the Tata Tigor doesn’t have any special edition on sale.

Tata Tigor expert review
Exterior
-
Despite being an older model in the segment, the Tigor still looks fresh due to occasional updates by Tata.
-
In its latest update, it got LED headlamps and a shark fin antenna as part of cosmetic upgrades.
-
Its fresh look is maintained by the stylish alloy wheels and the chrome inserts on the grille.
-
From the sides the Tigor looks like just another subcompact sedan and there is nothing that stands out apart from the 15-inch alloy wheels.
-
Lower variants get 15-inch styled wheels, and 14-inch steel wheels.
-
At the back, it has a rather simple look and gets LED tail lights, a boot lip spoiler, and a slim bumper.
-
Tata offers the Tigor in 5 monotone shades: Supernova Copper, Meteor Bronze, Arizona Blue, Pristine White, and Daytona Grey.
Interior
Design
-
The cabin of the Tigor got an update this year which now features a slightly revamped dashboard with a larger touchscreen.
-
Cabin theme remains the same as before with a white and brown colour scheme.
-
The main change inside is Tata’s new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo that adds a modern touch to this cabin.
-
Other materials like the upholstery, chrome inserts, and gloss black inserts remain unchanged.
Driving Position
-
While manual height adjustment is available from the XT variant onwards, finding your ideal driving position takes some time due to the absence of telescopic steering adjustment.
-
The seat provides decent support and its cushioning is neither too soft nor too hard, which makes it ideal for both short and long journeys.
-
Both driver and the front passenger get individual armrests which adds to the comfort.
-
Due to the wide windshield and the sloping bonnet, you get a good visibility of the road.
Passenger Comfort
-
Tigor’s rear seats have good space for two passengers but taller people will struggle for some headroom.
-
Legroom, kneeroom, and underthigh support is sufficient for the size of this sedan.
-
Fitting three people in the back will be a stretch as the middle passenger will have to constantly adjust to keep a comfortable position.
Storage Options
-
Tigor gets bottle holders in all four doors, two cupholders in the front, a decent sized glovebox, and a tray ahead of the gear lever for your phone or wallet.
-
Rear passengers get seat back pockets and two cupholders in the centre armrest.
Features
-
The main feature highlight from the model year update is the 10.25-inch touchscreen seen in other Tata models.
-
It has good-looking graphics, larger icons, and an easy to use interface, but this screen is prone to occasional lags and glitches.
-
This screen supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and is paired with an 8-speaker sound system for a clear and crisp audio quality.
-
Tata has also offered a semi-digital instrument cluster, which displays drive information in a neat and clean manner.
-
Another major feature addition that came with this update is a 360-degree camera setup, which has a clear feed and you can switch between 2D and 3D views.
-
Other features include automatic climate control, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs with auto fold, and push button start/stop.
Safety
-
Standard safety features of the Tigor consist of dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
-
Higher variants get a rear parking camera, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold control, front fog lamps, and rain sensing wipers.
-
Top-spec variants get a tyre pressure monitoring system along with a 360-degree camera.
-
The Tigor also has a 4-star crash test rating from Global NCAP.
Boot Space
-
It gets a boot loading capacity of 419-litres which is more than enough to keep the luggage of your entire family.
-
You’ll be able to keep an entire suitcase set here (small, medium, and large) along with one or two small soft bags.
-
The CNG variants get a smaller boot space, but due to the presence of two smaller CNG tanks instead of a single big one, you can still keep two small suitcases here.
Performance
1.2-litre Petrol
-
The Tata Tigor gets a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine which is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT (automated manual transmission).
-
This engine can also be had with a factory-fitted CNG kit, which gets both manual and AMT options.
Engine | 1.2-litre petrol | 1.2-litre petrol + CNG |
Power | 86 PS | 74.5 PS |
Torque | 113 Nm | 96.5 Nm |
Transmission | 5MT, 5AMT | 5MT, 5AMT |
-
This engine is not so refined as you feel occasional vibrations in the footwell.
-
There is enough power in the city for quick overtakes and the acceleration is linear.
-
On the highway, overtakes are considerably easy with less load.
-
But when there are 3-4 passengers in the car, overtakes need some planning.
-
With the manual, you get a light clutch, and the gear throws are swift.
-
But if you drive in the city a lot, we’d recommend the AMT for its convenience.
-
The gear shifts are slightly jerky, and it tends to stay on one gear for a longer period of time, but you’ll get used to it pretty quickly.
1.2-litre Petrol + CNG
-
When driving in the city, you won’t notice much drop in power compared to the petrol.
-
But on the highway overtakes will become a little more difficult and the engine will get loud under hard acceleration.
-
One advantage of this CNG powertrain is that it can start on CNG, so you don’t need to switch to CNG after starting the car.
-
If you travel a lot, this will be a better option since it has a high fuel efficiency, and Tata offers it with the convenience of an AMT.
Ride and Handling
-
Tigor is a comfortable car on most surfaces, and especially in the city it manages to keep all passengers comfortable.
-
It handles small potholes and speedbreakers well and even on deeper potholes it keeps the cabin stable.
-
On the highways, it remains planted, but feels a little jumpy on undulations and flyover joints.
-
However, due to the lack of insulation, you can hear tyre noise and suspension noise while driving, which can become a little annoying.
Variants
-
The Tigor can be had in 5 variants: XM, XT, XZ, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux.
-
CNG is offered with all variants except for the base.
XM
-
Bare bones variant with 14-inch steel wheels and blacked-our ORVMs and door handles.
-
Gets a dual-tone cabin theme with fabric sears and Tata’s new two-spoke steering wheel.
-
Features include manual AC, front power windows, front adjustable headrests, and tilt adjustable steering wheel.
-
Safety kit comprises dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
XT
-
The only major exterior upgrade is 14-inch steel wheels with styled wheel covers.
-
Cabin gets a height adjustable driver seat, a day/night IRVM, and steering mounted controls.
-
This variant also gets an infotainment package with a 3.5-inch infotainment system, bluetooth connectivity, and 4-speakers.
-
This is the entry level CNG and entry level AMT variant.
XZ
-
Gets LED headlamps, LED DRLs, 15-inch steel wheels with styled covers and body colours door handles as major exterior upgrades.
-
Cabin gets a front armrest and a rear armrest with cupholders.
-
Feature additions include a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a rearview camera.
-
This is the entry level CNG AMT variant.
XZ+
-
This is a well equipped variant with 15-inch styled wheels, a shark fin antenna, and front fog lamps.
-
The interior becomes more premium with a leatherette wrapped steering wheel and chrome inside door handles.
-
It gets a better infotainment package with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an 8-speaker sound system.
-
Gets additional features like auto AC, push button start/stop, auto headlamps, cruise control (petrol only), semi digital instrument cluster, and a cooled glovebox.
-
Safety kit also gets an improvement with rain sensing wipers and an HD rearview camera.
XZ+ Lux
-
This variant is only available with a manual transmission in both petrol and CNG variants.
-
The exterior gets 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels as cosmetic upgrades.
-
Major feature additions include a 360-degree camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
CarDekho Recommends
-
If you’re on a budget, pick the one-above-base XT variant as it covers all the basics and gives you the option of both CNG and petrol-AMT powertrains. Stretch to the XZ variant only if you want a better infotainment package or a CNG-AMT powertrain.
-
If you want a better equipped variant, go for the XZ+ variant. It offers a great infotainment package along with all the necessary features and a good-looking exterior. It also has the option of an AMT variant which the top-spec XZ+ Lux does not.
Verdict
Even today, after so many years of its launch, the Tata Tigor stands tall as a well-loaded offering in its segment. Its design is aging well, and its space and comfort are ideal for someone who wants a daily commuter for their family.
If Tata can make some improvements to its safety kit, and make the cabin feel slightly more premium, it has what it takes to become the best in its segment.

- My First Car Tata Tiago: Honest ReviewIt's been years since we brought a car tata Tiago was our first car. I wasn't looking from some expensive or fancy car, just a car that's reliable, budget Friendy, and full efficient like feel good while driving because as coming from an middle class family a car is an luxury for us. And this car gave us everything still using it and perform pretty good. Plus when we first brought it from show room the design the look was 10 on 10 like everything we were looking for... The grill design, projector lamp everything at that time it was the best car in my opinion in look wise. While in performance i would say the petrol engine isn't the best but still works good like for daily commutes, it's more than adequate. The gear til now feels smooth and it's great not gonna lie. On the highways you can run the car comfortably like 90-100kmph. For mileage it didn't disappoint me because in city traffic by car me and my dad get around 15-16kmpl we manage to go by 20sometimes. Inside the ac the seats are pretty comfortable and feels nice. Plus the safety it gives I'm genuinely suprise after so many years this car is still in tact and overall i didn't face any sort of major issues with it and talking about service cost it's manageable or so. It's 2025 for driving i would still recommend it like if going on a budget of 7-8Lakhs then yes go for it.Read More
