Nissan Terrano expert review

CarDekho Experts
As a standalone product, the Nissan Terrano impresses with its muscular styling, spacious cabin and multiple powertrain options.

overview

The Nissan Terrano is, at its essence, a Renault Duster in a more premium package. While it gets the same robust build and abuse-friendly nature of the Duster, it features a more mature design and better interiors too. Should you consider it over its more affordable sibling and indeed, it’s rivals?

2016 Nissan Terrano

Verdict

Its easy handling manners and excellent ride quality make it perfect for those wanting a comfortable SUV for the city or highway. But the absence of new-age features such as projector headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, rear AC vents or even a push-button start may put off those who want an equipment-rich SUV.

Pros & Cons of Nissan Terrano

Things We Like

  • Diesel engine of the Terrano offers great driveability and efficiency.
  • The Nissan Terrano essentially gets the Duster’s supple ride quality and tough nature in a more stylish package.
  • Massive ground clearance of 205mm in the Nissan Terrano is more than sufficient for Indian roads

Things We Don't Like

  • Interior quality, while better than the Duster, is only acceptable for the price.
  • The Nissan Terrano fails to match the finish quality or features of its rival, the Hyundai Creta.
  • The absence of an all-wheel drive option in the Terrano (available in its more affordable cousin) is a big letdown for SUV enthusiasts.

I still remember the time, when I was driving the Nissan Patrol, the massive 4.2-litre petrol mill that has acceleration like a sports car. It isn?t just quick, but off the road capable to crawl on several terrains. The Land Cruiser is the most commonly spoken name in dune bashing, but the Patrol is equally good if not better. Nissan might not have the Patrol and the Pathfinder in our markets, but the company had introduced the Nissan X-Trail and now the new Terrano makes it way into India. We g
