The Premier Automotive Group (PAG), is a group within the Ford Motor Company that oversees the business operations of its three European luxury automobile subsidiaries: Jaguar (Now part of Tata Motors), Land Rover (Now part of Tata Motors) and Volvo[1]. Previously, PAG has also been responsible for Lincoln and Aston Martin; Lincoln was taken back into Ford direct control, and Aston Martin was sold. In September 2006 the Rover brand was secured from BMW to the PAG, to protect the Land Rover brand. Although Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot is often credited with building the first self-propelled mechanical vehicle or automobile in about 1769, this claim is disputed by some, who doubt Cugnot's three-wheeler ever ran. Others claim Ferdinand Verbiest, a member of a Jesuit mission in China, built the first steam-powered 'car' around 1672[3][4]. What is not in doubt is that Richard Trevithick built and demonstrated his Puffing Devil road locomotive in 1801, the first truly successful steam-powered road vehicle.François Isaac de Rivaz, a Swiss inventor, designed the first internal combustion engine, in 1806, which was fuelled by a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen and used it to develop the world's first vehicle to run on such an engine. The design was not very successful, as was the case with Samuel Brown, Samuel Morey, and Etienne Lenoir who each produced vehicles powered by clumsy internal combustion enginesThe Premier brand was on sale in India. - Premier PadminiundefinedThe car itself is giving the classy late 90s vibes which for people like me, who like to keep it plain and simple is the best option. I have a personal collection with this car as my family owned one when I was little and I could vividly remember the trips I went on with the car. Nostalgia for me and even for people who don't usually want to indulge in old classic cars it's an exception because of the legacy it holds. The mileage is not half bad and engine is also quite good for a car this old in this case being around 1100 cc(40bhp) which can power upto almost 70Nm torque and can go as fast as 140kmph. Overall if you are looking for a vintage looking car or anything that can give place you in a good aesthetic you should definitely consider this ride first of all the options out there as there are not many competitors.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo

- Premier RioPremier Rio Outdated Looks with Good MileageThis review would be behalf of my friend and my experience with the car. My friend bought this car about 4 years ago and when I saw this car for the first time I felt it like a cross-breed of safari and gypsy. The car has outdated looks and I have no doubts about that. I mean if you cannot give a car a nice stylish look, what?s the point of pricing it so high. Moreover, who will buy the car from a company which is almost unknown or mysterious to the people of the country? However, the plus point of the car as per my friend?s input is the mileage that stands around 14kmpl in cities and 18kmpl on highways, which is pretty good for an SUV. Interiors are not bad but I would like to remind the ergonomically embarrassment the awkwardly positioned power window switches can cause to anyone. The engine and suspension are quite user-friendly but the price Rio asks for quality, interior space and comfort, cannot match even similarly priced hatchbacks. In my opinion, someone who ignores Ford EcoSport and buys this SUV will be in loss.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
