The newest model in the MG line-up is the Hector Plus with a price tag of ₹ 17.50 - 23.41 Lakh. MG Motor India Private Limited was established in the country in 2017, and officially began its manufacturing and sales operations in 2019. Also known as Morris Garages, the British-origin company is currently owned by Shanghai-based Chinese state-owned company, SAIC Motor. The company has one manufacturing plant in the country located in Halol, Gujarat, which was previously owned by General Motors India. MG entered the Indian market with the Hector mid-size SUV as its first product here, and the car quickly gained a lot of popularity in the country thanks to its value proposition. MG Motor decided to make use of the ever-growing popularity of the SUV to introduce a range of other products as well. As of now, MG Motor’s Indian portfolio consists of a total of five SUVs, including an EV. The list of MG cars in India includes the Astor compact SUV and the mid-size Hector SUV, three-row Hector Plus, Fortuner-rivalling MG Gloster full-size premium SUV and the ZS EV (EV counterpart of the Astor). The Astor is currently the most affordable MG car available in the Indian market, while the Gloster is MG Motor’s flagship offering in the country. While the carmaker has only introduced SUVs in the market, MG earlier confirmed that it would also launch other body types like hatchbacks, MPVs and sedans later. MG has established its name in the country for offering high-tech features with all of its offerings, making them the most feature-loaded cars in their respective segments. Features like a panoramic sunroof, connected-car tech, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 360 degree camera are offered on all MG cars in India. The MG Astor and Gloster are also offered with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) tech respectively. The upcoming MG cars in India likely include an MPV to rival the Kia Carnival, and a sub-compact SUV to take on the likes of the Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon. MG Motor will also soon introduce a mid-life facelift for the ZS EV, along with a sub-4m electric car to rival the Tata Nexon EV in the country.
