One of the very old and renowned car maker in the history of automobiles was the Studebaker Corporation. This highly acclaimed company was established way back in the middle of the 18th century in the year, 1852. This company was later incorporated under the name of Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company and was based near the town of South Bend, which is located in Indiana, USA. Studebaker Corporation was founded by the five Studebaker brothers This company started with making horse buggies and wagons for the defense and military organizations, then for the miners for their coal and other such materials and also for the farmers of USA to help them in their work. In the early 19th Century, this company finally entered the automobile business and first launched electric vehicles in year 1902 and then further ventured into manufacturing petrol engine based cars in year 1904. These cars were being sold into the car market under the name of Studebaker Automobile Company. This company was in partnership with the Garford Company, which was based in the town of Elyria located near Ohio. One of their most famous car manufactured by this Joint Venture is the Studebaker - Garford Touring Car, which was launched in year, 1908. Then another such company called as the E M F Company, which was based out somewhere close to Detroit. One of their wonderful creation was the E M F Model 30 Roadster car, which was manufactured and launched way back in year, 1912. Both these partnerships lasted till year, 1911 and then got dissolved. After this, the Studebaker Corporation started producing their own petrol engine based cars starting from the August month in year, 1912. After this there was no looking back for the company and they started rolling out one charming car after another, which went on to make way into the American households and also into the heart of the people. Some of the most popular and reliable cars made by this company are â?? Studebaker Speedster and Studebaker Touring (Year â?? 1916), Studebaker GB Commander (Year â?? 1928), Studebaker Phaeton, Studebaker Four Door Sedan and many more such cars. This car maker received one of their biggest orders from Britain, which was given to this company at the start of the World War I. The hefty order to this company was to make about three thousand wagons for transport along with other things such as ambulances and hundreds of cars. After this, other countries such as Russia as well as the French people started placing orders with this company as well. During the unfortunate Economic slowdown and depression, which caused a lot of losses to the Americans in year 1930, this company was also affected to a certain extent instead of doing incredible revenue generation. There were some layoffs and other problems, but this car maker bounced back into profit making days with a combined effort by their entire workforce. After many decades of doing impressive business, this company started having its share of bad days as well. The massive manufacturing facility based near the town of South Bend had to close down in the year, 1963. After this, all the other manufacturing facilities of this company started to gradually wind up and close down. This glorious company from the pre-WWI era had finally become defunct in year 1967 and all their facilities, networks, partnerships, distributors and joint ventures were either closed or taken over by other companies. The Studebaker brand was on sale in India. It’s famous for its Studebaker Champion models. The manufacturer 36 Lakh. There is no official word from the manufacturer on its re-entry into the Indian market.
