    Powerhouse in a small packet

Hi All, I am posting this review for the car which I have been owning for the past 5 years. My experience with starts from me hunting for a car for my family. We had a test drive all the possible cars which fit our requirements and needs.with all the cars chevy ticked all the boxes I was looking for. Let's start with the details of each and every section : Dimension: The car qualifies for a small hatchback and the dimension are near about the same as other small hatchbacks. The car looks small from the outside and has a small footprint. This gives us a very small car feel and also a short turning radius. The car offers decent space in the inside and has a tallboy seating position.you can comfortably seat 2 at the rear and 3 by a bit of squeeze at the front it was the only car to comfortably accommodate my 6-foot frame. The instrument cluster is basic but handy with no feeling of being an aftermarket fitment. It is the car which has nearly 55% of steel for added rigidity. Engine: The engine is a 1000 cc generating 65 bhp and 91 nm of torque overall.this is a spirited engine thanks to the system which supplies more torque when needed and hence you can even crawl the car at lower gears and it also helps in brisk acceleration. The gearbox is smooth but has a rubbery feeling to it. It has short gearing for the first two gears and is very helpful in dense traffic situations. Drive: The car has a great lower end hence sprinting to 80 km/h is a breeze post that the car takes its own sweet time to build speed and has a weak top end. The only let down to the car are the tires and brake as they do not provide the bite needed. The tires do not provide any grip and also have a lot of noise. It is better to replace the tires at the earliest. Hydraulic steering provides great response and feels good to handle. Mileage: The car provides me an average of 12 in city and 16 on highway.less as compared to other small hatches but It is a good compromise for the pick-up and speeds the car offers. Maintenance is on the lower side with 2500 RS as a normal cost of maintenance for a year. The car is also compatible with CNG kit and offers a decent performance with CNG. It also comes with company fitted CNG Kit. Overall it is a great experience to own a chevy as compared to other cars.Read More

    A very nice car

Chevrolet spark a small car, its very practical in city use, it takes little space to get parked, where the space is tight in the city this can easily parked. this car is good on highways but till 80kmph. it gives fuel consumption 19 0n highways with ac.it has very clear lights when we are doing reverse parking.seating position is good, its easy to get in and out for average height people.its steering gives the feeling of a classic car. its good for four adult with moderate luggage and very good for city use, Highly recommended to every one who wants to purchase hatchback in this budget, super performer.best inside space in this class, looks small from out but ample space inside, once u fold the back seat and put a mattress it will become much larger, i have done this so many time in long drive and travel as many as 7 people. One of the lowest priced new vehicles one can purchase, yet it doesn't look like one or perform like one. I had MINI Cooper for 12 years and loved everything about it EXCEPT its fuel economy (much less than people think), propensity to break down, and cost of repairs (it's made by BMW). In less than a month I have fallen in love with my Chevrolet Spark. It simply does not feel like an economy car and it looks dashing! The engine is so quiet I have had to check a few times to see if it was still running (and it always was)! It is nimble to maneuver, cruises at 55-70 mph smoothly with no strain, the front seat was comfortable even for a 6 foot +, 300-pound man.  Read More

    Great car by Chevy

To begin with, let me make it clear that I am not a Doctor but I have maintained and driven my car with care. 12th August 2009 was the happy day for me when the first car of my entire family lineage was delivered. The Maruti Alto was our original pick (due to its ultra-low-cost) but one look at its interior color and space made us think otherwise. Being 6-feet tall meant that anyone sitting behind me as the driver would have a crunch of time. Chevrolet was the showroom a couple of miles away, so we decided to go there and BAMM!! the beige interior just clicked. Although it was about INR 60K more than our budget, we just went for it. We had a wonderful experience with the Chevy team and felt at home (in the showroom). The car came, in all its white glory being the apple of my eye and the envy of my neighbors. Back then, there were not many flashy cars on the roads. All of us in the family were pretty inexperienced when it came to owning a car, so things like mileage, road noise, seat comfort, etc. were all over-looked. As I grew up with the car, I started to notice how much more comfortable the ride was when compared to the WagonR (owned by a friend). Although the interior space couldn't rival the tall-boy, the interior quality sure did. It felt like a step-up when it came to the interiors and by some means the exterior as well (I was always a fan of those candy-like red tail lights). Ahh but then the warranty ended and boy did it take a turn for the worst. The marketing gimmick was a three-year, no service charge warranty? which they did deliver. What they failed to mention was that the dividends you earned during those three years were going to leave your pockets at warp speeds. It started with the AC. The AC unit in my Spark was so bad that I got it fixed 3 times before just giving up and getting the whole thing swapped for a new unit. It cost a bomb! The power window system is pretty bad as well. Thankfully I had manual rear windows which I now feel proud of. (FYI: The driver side power window failed and I haven't repaired it in over a year.) That's how frustrated I am with its electrical system. The one thing that hasn?t let me down is the engine performance. It is strong and linear although it is a puny 1 liter. It's not as noisy as the other 1 liter units I've driven and has never given me any issue whatsoever. The ride quality is still plush, comparable to some of today's similarly priced rivals. Its been seven years running and being driven around for about 15K Kms, I fell I have under-used my car (part of it being a very competitive on-road parking). But as much as I have used it, I feel it was fine-old fella. The joy of your first car can never be replicated or repeated (unless your second or the tenth car is a Lambo) but then I feel I'm ready to depart from my friend. I guess it makes sense to stick to industry norms and go with the best selling brands in the business. After all, there is a reason why Maruti is no.1. The after-sales service was not up to my expectations and nor was my car.Read More

    Very Good Car

    1. Very good car and it has good pick up. 2. It has decent mileage in city roads with switching on A.C and very good mileage on the highways. 3. It has a smooth engine which does not allow sound inside the car. 4. It has more cabin space to seat comfortably. 5. Very good suspension and during high speed it has very good balance. 6. Turning radius is good to take U-turn. 7. Well, who isn't excited at the beginning, everyone is. But, let me tell you, things went well after that too, actually pretty well. Nope, I am not exaggerating, there's no need to. I know Chevy doesn't sell gazillion copies of it each month but my long search-n-research for car purchase did pay off. Having driven near 20000 kilometre, I now can say that this commuter is worth it. I am not the one wanting any bragging rights for owning resale champs. Actually, there is no meaning in celebrating for something after it has left you. The fact is, it should make you happier and you should cherish it for that. My adoration for his engine refinement and wonderful suspension would literally outlive him! I have enjoyed those traits time and again.  Read More

    Spark: A Good Looking Hatchback

Look and Style: This car has a stylish design, sporty looks with roof rail, looks awesome. Comfort: Much comfortable car as compared to other cars in this segment. Pickup: It generates the power of 63bhp only, so delivers a decent pick-up only, not that much powerful. Mileage: Spark is less fuel efficient as compared to other cars in the segment. It gives only 14 kmpl in the city and 16.2 kmpl on the highway. Best Features: The interiors and 4 power windows are its best features. Needs to Improve: Chevrolet should focus on the fuel efficiency. Overall Experience: Overall a good car, very much suitable for a middle-class family.Read More

    Marriage Material

Look and Style - Look wise it is not so impressive but certainly not bad, just not like an actress but a marriage material. Bonnet and front sides look good, but I do not like rear lamps. That's the only thing I do not like in Spark. Otherwise, it is good. Interiors are quite impressive than any other car in this class. Dashboard, mirrors, steering style, everything is just perfect. Comfort - Yes it is comfortable for 5 folks, a great comfort to drive too. I drove 600 KM non-stop without any discomfort. Pickup - Pickup is not bad, but according to their class it is good. Mileage - I am getting a good mileage - 18 KMPL on the highways and 15 KMPL in the city. As I converted my car in CNG, now I am getting 27 KMPL on the highways and 24 KMPL in the city. Best Features - Interior and better stability. Needs to improve - Rear lamp style and pickup. Overall Experience - I will give 4 out of 5. It is really a good car. Never deceived me in any long run.Read More
