Elon Musk, CEO and product architect of Tesla Motors has said “Our market cap would be basically the same as Apple’s is today” and quite rightly so. Both the companies have brought in products, which revolutionized the dynamics of the industry and are revered for their state-of-the-art advanced performance. With the recent launch of its futuristic SUV, Tesla showcased the pioneering strides that it has made in the industry and what it can bring to the table. So let's take a look at these products and see what makes them so larger than life.
Model X
Tesla Motors Model X is the latest and by far the most advanced car product out of the company’s Fremont Plant in California. One of the most striking feature of this SUV is the trademark 'Falcon Wing' doors, which come equipped with ultrasonic sensors that are designed to detect any nearby objects. At the rear, the car also comes with an automatically spoiler that adjusts itself according to the speed of the vehicle. The panoramic roof of the car merges into windshield.
Inside the cabin, in lieu of the dials that you see in the mere mortal cars, Model X showcases a humongous 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin has been designed to comfortably seat seven passengers, while facilitating best in class luxuries onto them. The three seats in the centre row are independently operable and the two seats in the last row can be folded flat to increase boot space. The dashboard of Model X inherits an integrated HEPA filter system that supplies medical-grade air regardless of the outdoor conditions.
Under the hood, Model X incorporates a dual-electric motor mechanism, which delivers 255bhp at the front with the help of an independent front motor, while the rear motor delivers 496bhp to the rear wheels. The overall power output of the car stands at a whopping 751bhp and 98.57kgm of torque, which helps the SUV accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in under 3.2 seconds, to go on to achieve a top speed of 250 kmph. Being essentially an electric car, the Model X can travel upto 400 kms, once fully charged.
This car takes the cake with its safety features, most prominent of which is the ‘Autopilot’ driving program that helps the car maintain lane discipline and practically drive itself. In adiition, the car also gets autonomous emergency braking, side collision detection system, forward-facing camera, radar and sonar sensors. This car sure is a bargain with top end P90D model being priced at $142,000 (Rs. 93,00,000 approx).

Tesla S also features the ‘Autopilot’, which is seen on the Model X and like the SUV, the front motors deliver 221bhp to the front wheel, while the more powerful rear motor delivers 470bhp at rear, to provide an overall output of 691bhp and and 930Nm of torque. These stats help the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.2 seconds, which enables it in achieving a top speed of 250km/h.
Even the weight distribution of the car has been divided in a 50:50 ratio, to provide the car with immaculate handling dynamics. On a full charge, this powerful sedan is capable of travelling up to 443km - 275 miles before you start looking for a wall socket. The Autopilot, semi-autonomous driving system used optical cameras and 360 degree sonar system to detect traffic, barricades, which helps the car in deducing when emergency braking is needed.
