Not only this, but it is the only diesel hatchback on sale in India
Tata Altroz carved its own path in the segment thanks to its suave styling, plush cabin, an array of powertrain options, and most importantly, the five-star crash test safety rating. The package has now been improved further with the new RDE compliant model which promises better performance, fuel efficiency, and refinement. Tata has worked on several updates for the hatchback, so let’s take a close look at the improvements made:
Better Driveability
The Tata Altroz’ petrol engine is now more powerful and torquier. Its new generation 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine belts out 88PS and 115Nm. While the Altroz petrol had a linear and smooth power delivery, the new Revotron engine now offers better pickup as well. The hatchback was always an effortless city runabout and with the new engine, it just gets better. Highway mile munching will also be more seamless with improved pickup.
More Refined Petrol Engine
Tata has also worked significantly in making the Altroz’s engine’s refinement. The owners will be delighted with a silent ride thanks to massive reduction in NVH ( Acceptable Noise, Vibration and Harshness) levels and lower vibrations felt inside the cabin. The cabin noise has also been brought down which will further enhance the ride experience.
Improved Fuel Efficiency
The new generation Revotron petrol engine not just offers better performance and refinement, but improved fuel efficiency too. The petrol manual Altroz now claims 19.3kmpl of economy, while its DCA (dual clutch automatic) variants claim 18.5kmpl. The 2023 hatchback additionally gets idle start stop technology as part of the standard package right from the entry-level variant, which helps in increasing the efficiency. So the updated Altroz petrol should be more easy on the pocket as well. And if you want to further reduce your running cost, Altroz also has a diesel engine which delivers a whopping 23.64 kmpl.
The Sole Diesel Hatchback
Tata Altroz has the bragging rights for being the only diesel hatchback in India. And not just that, but it’s also one of the most affordable diesel cars on sale. It packs a 1.5-litre diesel engine which belts out 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque. The Altroz diesel is more versatile and easy to drive, and also packs the punch for an engaging experience. Its torquey nature assures that you won’t have a dull moment driving it.
However, the Altroz Diesel also makes up in fuel efficiency, with a class leading economy of 23.64kmpl. So with these efficiency numbers, you can have performance which will be economical as well.
It Gets A Turbo-Petrol Engine Too!
For those who want a petrol Altroz but with the dash of performance, Tata also offers a turbo-petrol engine here. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine claims 110PS and 140Nm. Its driveability is impressive and has enough grunt for quick sprints. Not only is the Altroz iTurbo more enjoyable to drive but it’s more capable than its naturally aspirated petrol counterpart.
Safety
Tata Altroz is the safest hatchback of India with a five-star safety rating in the global NCAP crash tests. It is built on Tata’s robust ALFA ARC platform which makes its structural integrity stable and capable of withstanding further loadings than the crash test speed of 64kmph.
Price And Warranty
For a more relaxed ownership, Tata Altroz is now offered with a standard warranty of three years / 1 lakh kilometres, whichever is earlier. The hatchback is priced from Rs 6.45 lakh to Rs 10.40 lakh and is priced very competitively with its rivals. The petrol variants can be had under Rs 10 lakh (all prices ex-showroom prices) which makes it a very attractive offer as a hatchback with qualities like engaging performance, efficient engines, impressive ride quality, and outstanding safety.
