International automobile world is now enjoying another BMW addition with the recent launch of German car maker’s 2012 BMW 1 Series car. Reports suggest that BMW was planning to showcase the hatchback segment 2012 BMW 1 Series during the Frankfurt Motor Show but with car’s images leaked on internet, BMW made the official launch before the schedule time.

As per relevant sources, in terms of dimensions, the new BMW 1 Series is longer as compared to its predecessor whereas the height is almost same at latter. Further, the new BMW is based on the 3 Series platform with front grille more vertical and is currently seen in all the latest BMW cars. In terms of interiors, BMW 1 Series delivers quite soothing environment with plush interiors.BMW announced that the new car is affixed with four-cylinder engines and is expected to release higher capacity engines later. As for now, company launched two naturally aspirated DI petrol engines namely 1.6 litre capable of generating power of 136 bhp and 170 bhp. BMW is expected to offer a 1.5 litre 3-pot gasoline as well as a turbo diesel. Furthermore, company also launched three 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engines with power generating capacity of 116 bhp to 184 bhp.

Sources revealed that the car comes affixed with a six-speed manual or 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. As far as exclusive features are concerned, fuel-saver start-stop and brake energy regeneration, lane departure warning along with, automatic traffic sign recognition and automatic headlights are available in high-end variants.Indian auto market is also expecting some high-end cars, German car maker Audi intends to bring the Audi A1 for India. Following the foot steps of Audi, BMW is also planning for introducing the Mini or the 1 Series in the country.
