Just like every carmaker in town, Porsche was trying to shield the test mule version of Macan SUV with heavy camouflaging, however the eagle eyes of auto journos caught the images on lenses and now the first ever production ready images of the 2014 Porsche Macan are floating on the interweb. The car was taped heavily with fake headlights, taillights and the chrome strips adorned at the rear doors of the SUV to make you believe that the test mule is actually a Cayenne. However, the covers could not hide the big centre grille and the immaculate bonnet and a sloped back and long patch up revealed to the discerning eyes that the car is not the regular Cayenne rather the gory new Porsche Macan SUV.
Taking cues from the already available Audi Q5 and the upcoming Q6, Porsche have incorporated them in the SUV Macan which will sit beneath Cayenne in the Porsche model lineup. Back in February 2012, Porsche teased the world with its new SUV illustration, in addition to the teaser sketch the company also announced the official name, which was earlier speculated to be christened as Porsche Cajun. The oily bits details of Porsche SUV not out yet, but as per speculations the drive train powering Audi Q5 Hybrid along with the 2.0L four pot turbocharged engine sourced from Volkswagen could be found under the hood of Porsche Macan. A non-hybrid 4-cylinder engine is also in the offering.
A faithful Porsche Macan Turbo version is expected to come with 3.0L V6 engine with dual turbochargers that yield 375PS peak power and near about 545Nm torque. Noticeably, this new Porsche is going to be the first model to be equipped with less than six-cylinders, after the extinct models from the brand Porsche 968 in the year 1995. Porsche is also mulling to make a two door version of Macan, apart from the four door version described here. The Indian lovers of brand Porsche, can expect the all new Macan to drive in by the latter half of 2013 or early 2014.
