The German auto maker, Volkswagen is working on the next-generation Polo hatchback, and if rumors are to be believed, it will get the 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine that currently powers the VW Up!. The facelifted Polo has been spotted a couple of times during its test rounds on European streets, and now details of the vehicle are starting to emerge. The model will be the entry-level, which will stand alongside the 4-cylinder petrol and diesel versions.
The 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI engine will generate outputs ranging from 60bhp to 90bhp. While talking about the styling changes, it is expected that the 2014 Polo will get minor upgrades like revised front bumper, a smaller antenna and restyled taillights. The interior of the Polo is also likely to receive some minor upgrades including a new dashboard, and updated infotainment system and additional assistance system.
It is quite early to comment whether this version will make its way to India, but we expect this small engine will come to India. The Volkswagen Up! is likely to be launched by 2014 in India, and might get this smaller engine. Recently, the company has launched the sports version VW Polo in India, which is powered by 1.2L TSI engine, and the diesel Polo TDI is also going to be launched in the country.
