Pictures of the new 2016 BMW 7 Series, codenamed G11, are doing the rounds on the internet. According to the pictures, the new BMW 7 Series gets a more evolutionary design rather than a radical one. The images are of a pre-production 730d model and show the new laser headlights that are connecting to the kidney grille and L-shaped tail lights. Instead of changing the design of the 7 Series completely, BMW has chosen to load the car with high tech features, light weight body and a more dynamic driving experience.
Reports suggest that the new BMW 7 Series is 170 kg lighter than the current model, which has been made possible with the use of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic), magnesium, aluminium and high strength steel for its body.
The 2016 BMW 7 Series will come with several new features that would be a first in a bimmer. Some of the suggested features are wireless charging for smart phones, gesture based navigation and a new iDrive with many new driving assistance systems.
Even the interiors of the new 7 Series are similar to the current BMW design language but in a more evolved way with high quality materials. The engine lineup is supposedly made of 4 petrol engines, one diesel and one hybrid along with a new 9-speed gearbox. The new BMW 7 Series is expected to be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
