Nissan today unveiled the all-new fifth-generation Micra at the ongoing Paris Motor Show. The hatchback losses it curvy nature and takes on a more striking and an angular avatar. From every angle, this hatchback looks new, all the while maintaining some resemblance to the old Micra. Nissan has downsized the drivetrains, but has improved the aerodynamics for a better fuel efficiency and drive experience. The fifth-gen Micra also gets Nissan's Intelligent Mobility systems such as Intelligent Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Prevention.

Speaking of the new design, the Micra has a very attractive face. The grille features the 'V-motion' design from the brand; the long and sleek headlamps have angular bits inside them which makes them look aggressive. The front of this Micra is a huge improvement over the previous generations. The good looks of the car don't end there. On the side, a prominent shoulder line runs along the width of the car, ducking below the ORVM. Combined with the sloping/floating roof, the hatchback looks stunning from the side as well. The angular design continues to the rear profile with boomerang taillamps aligning themselves with the shoulder line. The boot gate also looks sporty with a high lid bumper and an integrated rear spoiler.

As an added bonus, the Micra will be available with 10 "sophisticated and vivid exterior colours", including the ‘Energy Orange’, which you see in the pictures here. Additionally, the exterior and interior personalisation options will allow for the creation of 125 different variations of the car, so the owners can style their cars according to their personal taste.

Inside too, the cabin is an all-new place to be in. The-dual tone dashboard has panels and stitching matching the outer colour of the car. This might only be available in the orange shade of the car. The dashboard gets a very clean layout with a touchscreen infotainment system in the centre. Below it, in the instrument panel, are the controls for the automatic AC along with a small display. The steering wheel is also a new flat-bottom unit with mounted controls. The instrument cluster is a two-dial unit with blue illumination and a TFT screen in the centre.  The blend of orange and black in the cabin makes it look really sporty and the clean layout of the dashboard makes the car a good place to be in.

Globally, the Micra will be launched with three engine options. There is a 0.9-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and a naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine. These mills produce 90PS/140Nm and 73PS/95Nm power and torque, respectively. In the diesel range, there is only a 1.5-litre diesel producing 90PS power with 220Nm torque. The hatchback measures 3,999mm in length, 1,743mm in width and 1,455mm in height. All these dimensions have been increased from the previous model. Even the wheelbase has been increased by 75mm and now stands at 2,525mm.

The car looks gorgeous and comes fully loaded with equipment as well. When and if this car will come to India is still unknown, but we do wish that Nissan considers this Micra for the country.
