These SUVs belong to different segments, but both are premium offerings with a certain price overlap. But which one offers more value for the money?
The month of September saw the launch of two highly anticipated SUVs: the Tata Nexon facelift and the Honda Elevate. While the updated Nexon is now one of the most feature-loaded offerings in the subcompact SUV segment, the Elevate is an all-new product in the Indian compact SUV space, that too with the benefit of Honda’s legacy for reliability. Though both of these SUVs belong to different segments, some of their variants are closely priced. So, in this story we are going to see how these newly launched SUVs fare against each other in terms of size, performance, and features (on paper).

-
The Tata Nexon comes with both turbo petrol and diesel engine options, whereas the Elevate only comes with a naturally-aspirated petrol engine.
-
Tata’s subcompact SUV boasts a plethora of transmission options with its 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, including 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) options.
-
The Elevate, on the other hand, comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional CVT automatic.
-
Because the Nexon's 1.2-litre petrol unit is turbocharged, it provides nearly the same power output as the Elevate's 1.5-litre petrol engine while also having a higher torque output
-
However, the Elevate comes with a 4-cylinder petrol unit that offers a more refined experience, compared to the Nexon’s 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine.
-
Though all transmission options of the Nexon petrol are more fuel-efficient than the Elevate, the gap between the fuel economy of the DCT and CVT variants is negligible.
-
The Nexon diesel offers the highest torque output in this comparison, and it’s also the most fuel-efficient here.

The 2023 Tata Nexon offers a comprehensive list of features which makes it one of the most feature-loaded SUVs in its category. Meanwhile, the Honda Elevate arrived in the compact SUV space without some of the premium comforts already offered by segment rivals.
-
Both SUVs come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, automatic AC, automatic headlights, and a single-pane sunroof (voice assisted in the Nexon).
-
But the Elevate misses out on features like ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, a premium sound system, rain-sensing wipers, and six airbags as standard, which are available on the Nexon.
-
The Nexon also gets a bigger fully digital driver’s display, height-adjustable co-driver’s seat, and a premium 8-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer over the Elevate’s unbranded 8-speaker audio system.
-
While the Elevate lacks a 360-degree camera, it does include a lane-watch camera view and has the advantage of advanced driver assistance system(ADAS) features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and auto high-beam assist.
