The Nexon facelift gets a host of upgrades, pulling a lead on the tech-loaded Venue
Update (14/09/2023): The Tata Nexon facelift has finally been launched, with introductory prices starting at Rs 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Nexon facelift has been revealed in its entirety ahead of the launch on September 14. It gets a host of updates for the exterior design and the cabin too, while still offered with both petrol and diesel engines. We have already compared the Tata subcompact SUV to its arch-rival the Maruti Brezza, now let’s see what the Nexon gets over the Hyundai Venue.
A 360-degree camera
While the 2023 Tata Nexon is not the first to offer this premium feature in the segment, it still gets it ahead of the Hyundai Venue. Courtesy of the 360-degree camera, it also gets a blind spot monitor which is activated as soon as you engage the turn indicators. In comparison, the Venue comes with a rear parking camera only.
Rain sensing wipers
The Nexon already came with rain-sensing wipers and the facelift keeps that advantage over its Hyundai rival. While it may not look like a big feature difference, but it helps to keep you less distracted on those rainy days and lets you concentrate better on the road.
An Option of Diesel Automatic
As the choice of diesel engines continues to reduce in the sub-4m space, the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue are the among few SUVs which continue to offer one. However, while the Venue offers the diesel engine with a 6-speed MT only, the facelift Nexon also offers an option of 6-speed AMT (with paddle shifters) for its 1.5-litre diesel engine.
A Proper Digital Driver’s Digital
While both the SUVs here come with a digital instrument cluster, the Nexon facelift gets a proper 10.25-inch screen display. Where the Venue’s display has a single layout and can only give basic driving information, the Nexon unit is capable of multiple screen layouts and can relay maps feed from the infotainment system, among other things.
A Bigger Touchscreen
The Tata Nexon facelift gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is not only bigger than Venue’s 8-inch unit but also offers a more premium experience thanks to the new UI and a crisper display. That said, both the infotainment systems here support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A JBL-Branded Sound System
The facelifted Nexon comes with a JBL sound system consisting of 4 speakers, 4 tweeters and a subwoofer which offers a good audio experience. The Venue, on the other hand, comes with front and rear speakers with front tweeters.
Height Adjustable Co-Driver Seat
Unlike the Venue, the updated Nexon also gets a height-adjustable co-driver seat along with a height-adjustable driver’s seat. It helps the co-occupant in achieving a better seating position.
Launch & Rivals
Prices of the facelifted Tata Nexon are expected to start from Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to take on the likes of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Fronx, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger.
