Audi has launched the '35 TFSI' petrol variant of its popular executive saloon, the Audi A6. Priced at Rs 52.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) the big Audi will go up against the likes of the BMW 520i and the Mercedes-Benz E200.
The 35 TFSI is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol motor that also does duty on a lot of other Volkswagen-Audi Group cars. It produces 190PS of power and a healthy 320Nm of torque. Paired to the 7-speed S-tronic transmission with paddle shifters, the petrol A6 can clock 100kmph in a respectable 7.9 seconds. It also gets different Drive Modes that can be switched on the fly. Drivers get to choose from five modes - Auto, Efficiency, Comfort, Dynamic and Individual, that alters the throttle, steering and the suspension. The adaptive air suspension is standard as well, and, notably, the A6 is the only car in its class to offer it.
Inside out, the Audi A6 35 TFSI remains identical to its diesel sibling. The acclaimed 'Matrix' LED headlamps with dynamic turn indicators are standard on the petrol variant. Elements such as the chrome-dipped hexagonal grille, classy 18-inch alloy wheels and the LED tail lamps are in place too. On the insides, the A6 is slathered with high-quality materials and brimming with tech. Features include leather upholstery, four-zone climate control and electrically adjustable front seats. As far as infotainment is concerned, Audi MMI is standard - featuring an 8-inch retractable screen coupled to a 14-speaker Bose sound system.
“With the Audi A6 Matrix 35 TFSI, we want to reach out to India’s smart luxury car buyers and also cater to customers who want a fully equipped car in petrol, ” said Mr. Joe King, Head Audi India. "The Audi A6 has seen increasing demand and success and we are confident the Audi A6 Matrix 35 TFSI will set new benchmarks in its segment," he added. We think introducing the TFSI variant is a logical move, especially considering the fact that the market is moving back to petrol as the preferred fuel choice. What's your take on the petrol A6?
