Audi India surpasses 2010 annual sales in the first seven months of 2011

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, continued its excellent performance in India this year with a sale of 3145 cars from January – July 2011, thus, surpassing its 2010 annual sales figure of 3003 cars – an impressive growth of 93 percent (Jan – July 2010: 1626 cars). The luxury car maker’s sale for July 2011 stood at 343 cars.

“We attribute our solid sales growth to our philosophy of thinking ahead of the curve and our ability to bring innovative and progressive products to India. With an exceptional sales performance in the first seven months, we are well poised to achieve our sales target of 5000 cars this year. We at Audi India have adopted an aggressive expansion strategy for the year 2011 and in view of this expansion we will be infusing skilled talent at all levels – corporate, dealership and production. This move reiterates our commitment to be a part of the India growth story and will help us achieve the leadership position in the luxury car segment in India”, said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

“We are pleased with our impressive sales performance over the last few months despite having phased out the previous A6 in April. This achievement without the A6 in our portfolio is indeed encouraging. The introduction of new A6 will play a significant role in making 2011 a defining year for Audi in India”, he added.

The year 2011 saw the launch of a slew of class-defining models, namely, the flagship, Audi A8 L, the super sports cars, Audi R8 V10 and Audi R8 Spyder, the design marvel, Audi A7 Sportback and the high performance Coupé, Audi RS5. Additionally, Audi continues to be the market leader in the luxury SUV segment in India with its Q5 and Q7 and in the super sports car segment with its R8. The brand with the four rings is focused to strengthen its national footprint across India. This year the company opened showrooms in Chennai, Delhi and Ludhiana, with further developments planned in Coimbatore, Delhi West, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai South and Surat.
