Details of an uprated Audi RS6 emerged online recently; christened as 'Avant,' the more powerful trim is an addition to the car's growing 'plus' range. The reports for this trim, came out early this year, and the first official details for that is also out now, thanks to a leak made by one of company's dealer in the U.K. The good folks at GT Spirit managed well to take a screen-shot of it, though, the page was quickly removed from the website soon after that.
But as Stephan Reil, Audi Quattro Division boss, said back in January, “Audi is planning an even more powerful ‘Plus’ version of the RS6 Avant with around 600bhp to take on cars like the Mercedes E63 AMG S which also offers 4WD (at least in LHD markets) and 577bhp.”
Powered the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the unit is now uprated to deliver 600 bhp, a good 40 bhp more than the standard models's 560 bhp. The Audi RS6 Avant Plus has been put on a diet, providing it the extra bit of agility and better handling. If the report is to be believed, the trim will most likely to replicate the company's strategy used in the TT RS Plus model. The car offered more power under the hood, revised gearbox settings, better braking, stiffer suspension, and some carbon fiber components.
Following the footmarks of the TT RS Plus and the R8 V10 Plus, the 2014 Audi RS6 Avant Plus model won't be a limited make. It also seems that the German maker is speeding up the rollout of its 'Plus' trims, which initially were launched towards the end phase of a car's life. Furthermore, the RS6 Avant Plus will offer a host of special badging all-over the body, while on the inside, its going to be more premium than the standard model. The RS 6 Avant came to the market two years back and we expect the covers to come off this new Avant Plus version later this year.
