Tata Motors, one of the leading auto maker in the country, has denied that it did mention anything about bad road condition in a letter that was written to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) on December 15. As per media reports, the auto company had requested the DTC to monitor the city roads where low-floor Tata buses run in Delhi. And also said that the bad roads had caused damage to the buses. But on the very next day, December 16, Tata Motors sent another letter to clarify its stance on the statement and clearly denied that it had written anything about bad roads. According to sources in DTC, the company wrote the second letter after government asked Tata Motors to name the stretches where their buses were purportedly being damaged. When asked about the comment of Tata Motors, Transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the company should know that for which country they are making buses and the city roads are the best in the country. However, if Tata Motors' buses are damaged by bad roads then they are not making India bound buses at all. The minister said that the company has been given a 45 days time to check their fleet. He further said that the maintenance of low-floor buses is not up to 100 per cent. The company had increased the number of staff members at each depot in city after a low-floor bus caught fire in March.
