BMW 1 series hatchback to be launched in India by 2012

Recently the German Auto maker BMW revealed new BMW 1-series small car (codenamed- F20). The car would be available for sale in the international market by this September. BMW 1 Series launch in India is expected to be a year later after its international launch, that is most probably in the second half of the year 2012. This new BMW 1 Series would be the smallest and also the cheapest car by the company in India. The company is expecting a lot from this new five door hatchback and believe that it would surely help them in increasing sales figure in the Indian market.

BMW India has done a good business with the BMW X1 and feels that this sub-Rs.20 lakh hatchback will also increase their sales. With the beliefs that this car would make a way for itself in the hatchback segment of the Indian auto market, this premium hatchback will surely be liked by the people. The production capacity at the Chennai plant has been increased from 8,000 cars per year to 10,000 cars. The price of the car is expected to lie somewhere between 15-18 lakh.

The looks of the car are amazing, the front of the car is totally different, the headlamps, grills and the bonnet give this car a terrific look. The car has similarities with the BMW 3-series , it has the same MacPherson struts and multi-link rear suspension as in BMW 3-Series.The car has a length of 4.2 m and wheelbase increased over 30mm than the present BMW 1 series. This stylish hatchback will have a 1.6L petrol engine and a 2.0 L diesel engine, with the maximum power of 150 bhp and 181 bhp respectively.
