BMW 1 Series to take six body styles

German automobile giant BMW is formulating a plan of expanding the production line of its BMW 1 Series hatchback cars to six body styles by 2019. It is worth mentioning that BMW recently showcased the next generation BMW 1 Series five-door hatchback car.According to inputs, BMW’s new 1 series will be based on the platform of BMW 3-Series sedan just as its present series. Reports suggest that German car maker is going to carry out aggressive strategy of pouring large number of options for customers seeking affordable and efficient cars. However, the list of cars which are in-line comprises of both coupe and convertible models based on the new BMW 1 Series.

Right now, BMW 1 Series is offering tough competition to its German rivals like Mercedes Benz A-Class and the Audi A3. Furthermore, with an aim to increase share in car market, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen are also planning to roll out second generation cars like Mercedes Benz A-Class and Volkswagen Golf hatchbacks by 2012. BMW recently unveiled its new five-door hatchback comprising a rear-wheel-drive setup and is further planning for an all-wheel drive new BMW 1 Series followed by the new 3 -door version.

It is worth mentioning that BMW is planning to release the new BMW 1 series coupe and BMW 1 series convertible model with rear-wheel drive by 2013. The car is expected to be named as the BMW 2 Series so as to distinguish it from the BMW 1 Series hatchback car. Also, the car is expected to come affixed with powerful engines so as to live up to the sportier designs of coupe and convertible versions. According to the speculations, BMW 2 series car is going to incorporate a 3.0 liter, 6 -cylinder heart under the hood with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Additionally, German car maker is also considering the release of a saloon variant of the BMW 2 Series in Asian car markets, which indicate that Indian consumers might get a chance of buying the powerful yet elegant machine soon.
