The prestigious 2014 Geneva Motor Show will mark the global debut of four-door version of BMW 4 Series. This four-door version is named as '4 Series Gran Coupe' slated to be unveiled in the beginning of March 2014 at Geneva Motor Show. It would be the fourth vehicle in the flamboyant 4 Series line up which already consists of coupe, convertible, and M4 variants.
Things haven't been messed up by BMW this time, as it has simply presented the car as four-door version of a two-door car and beneath it there is nothing new, but a BMW 3 Series. It has been caught as a test mule several times in Europe and news are doing the rounds that BMW is going to offer it as more sportier alternative for 3 Series. The external dimensions of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe are exactly same as that of the BMW 3 Series and Coupe. Length, width, and even the wheel base is coinciding with the aforementioned supercars.
Frameless doors have been indulged for all the four doors and B-pillars have been further fortified for more endurance and tenacity. As a subsequent result of this, its weight has gone up by approx. 100 kgs. The four-door car would be offered with two engine options: a 4-cylinder and a 6-cylinder powertrain that are already performing it duties to the 3 Series as well as the 4 Series. Its exact pricing details hasn't been divulged yet, but it is expected that it would cost around Rs. 5 Lakhs more than the existing BMW 3 Series.
