BMW to bring Mini hatchback in India by 2012

The luxury brand, BMW had been planning to bring its Mini brand to India for a long time now. Dr Andreas Schaff of BMW, during the launch of the BMW X3 series in Pune had expressed his intention to introduce the brand in India and latest reports confirm that BMW will be introducing its mini hatch by 2012. BMW Mini price is expected to be in the range of Rs 18 lakhs.

However, the various models that are going to be offered in Mini brand in India is still unknown, but with the Mini lineage and the current demand for the hatchback cars in India, BMW will certainly hope to bring a premium hatchback with 4 seats.

The German auto major Volkswagen had introduced its premier hatchback VW Beetle and the Italian manufacturer Fiat also offered its small hatch Fiat 500. Both the premier small cars could not be a hit in India, despite the Fiat 500 price placed much lower than the VW Beetle. Given that the market dynamics keep on changing for predicting the fate for the BMW Mini hatch, the all-time rival of BMW, Mercedes-Benz also envisage launching its premier hatchback Mercedes-Benz B Class by June 2012.

Looks like there are going to be some fireworks during the next year, with a stiff competition between the Mercedes-Benz B Class and BMW Mini hatch, while Audi also has plans to launch its sedan Audi A3 around the same time.The BMW India offers a wide range of products in the country that comprise of BMW 3 series, BMW 5 series, BMW 6 series, BMW 7 series, BMW X1, BMW X6, BMW X5, BMW X3, BMW Z4, BMW Gran Turismo and BMW M series. The maximum priced model from BMW is BMW 7 series placed at Rs 1,31,50,000 and the minimum priced model is BMW X1 at Rs 22,40,000.
