car makers ready to flood the small car segment

With country's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, crossing 1 million car sales mark in a year, the auto industry in India has become center of attraction for the automobile makers around the world. All most all major car-makers around the world including Nissan, Renault, Toyota, Honda and Fiat, are working hard to place their respective small cars in Indian market. Nissan Micra, compact hatchback from Japan based car maker is all set to hit the road by July 2010. While, Toyota is going to launch its new small car Etios in India by the end if this year. Honda, which is yet to disclose the name of its small car will launch its small car by first quarter of next year.
Flying high with the launch of some of the most popular small car in recent months including Chevrolet Beat, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo, the auto industry of India is ready to touch the new hight with launch of some more new cars in coming months. In the month of January and February the auto industry in India registered the highest ever sales growth in a month.
With this, Maruti, Nissan-Renault JV and Fiat are planning to launch their respective small cars in India in coming two years. Where Maruti's small car will be fully manufactured and designed in India, the small car from Nissan-Renault will be launched in partnership with Bajaj Auto. Besides this it is also expected that the Renault's Twingo, a new four-seater Smart (a Daimler model) and also a successor to the current two-seater of the same model, will be launched in Indian market soon.
