Launches virtual tour of Expo exclusively on website & mobile for auto enthusiasts across India
In another pioneering development, CarDekho, India's leading online automobile portal, has created a virtual tour of Auto Expo 2016. CarDekho is the first player to provide virtual reality tour of the entire Auto Expo, which is the largest auto event in the country.
The virtual tour of the event, called "ExpoDekho with CarDekho", which is at Greater Noida, was made possible through the futuristic, state-of-the-art 360 imaging and mapping technology native to CarDekho post the acquisition of Drishya360s last year. A team of 360 imaging experts photographed the pavilions of 21 OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, BMW, Audi, Honda, Triumph, Benelli and Suzuki among many others to bring the experience to life.
Amit Jain, co-founder and CEO, CarDekho, commented, "We are very excited to bring this new feature to millions of auto enthusiasts who'd love to see the Auto Expo but cannot travel to Delhi NCR. This virtual tour of Auto Expo 2016 was made with cutting-edge technology to enable an immersive experience for auto fans all over India who could not attend the event."
"We at CarDekho are doing something which is far beyond the basic search and enquire model currently followed by auto portals. Equipped with a futuristic vision and technology, we are creating immersive, unique and amazing experiences which will be available right at the user's fingertips. This technology can also be used to create virtual showrooms that allow consumers to fully experience their purchase without even needing to physically visit car showrooms." he added.
This is the first time that the entire Auto Expo has been captured on a site. The launch is a part of CarDekho's strategy to go beyond research, listing, and buying and selling of cars. Highly trained photographers with specialized equipment worked overnight to get thousands of pictures of the expo. The pictures were then painstakingly stitched and taken live by a tech team to create this virtual tour experience in less than two days.
