In 2014, we have witnessed the grand 2014 Indian Auto Expo which featured several global and local unveiling. While carmakers are now ready with their new cars and facelifts to launch in the market, a few carmakers have discontinued some of their aging cars. For instance, Maruti that launched the much-anticipated Celerio hatchback at the recently held Auto Expo, has discontinued the A-Star and Estilo hatchbacks from the Indian car market. Moreover, Nissan has also announced to discontinue its flagship SUV X-Trail and 370Z Coupe.
It is expected that Nissan will bring the new Qashqai SUV in India. We opine that the new Qashqai will come as a replacement of the X-Trail. It is a well known fact that X-Trail and 370Z Coupe have not been doing much business for the company, and it seems a sensible move taken by the Japanese manufacturer. However, the company continue to sell its flagship premium sedan, Teana.
Similarly, the aging A-Star and Estlio couldn't manage good sales as compared to other Maruti cars like Swift, Alto 800, WagonR and others. Adding to it, Maruti Suzuki India's oldest armour, 800 has also been discontinued from the market recently.
