Cars that made it big in 2010

2010, came with many new entries in the auto market. From the business point of view, the year was fantastic for all the auto majors in the rapidly progressing auto market, India. Overall, five cars were on boom this year i.e.  - Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Beat, Toyota Etios and Volkswagen Vento. Though the sales for the largest auto manufacturer Maruti Suzuki were fantastic but this time other automobile units also came with an excellent impact on the overall sales figures with many new introductions in the market.

Ford Figo

Launched on 25th February, 2010, Ford Figo came as a true value for money in the domestic auto market. Starting with the price tag of Rs. 3,54,900 (Ex-showroom New Delhi), Ford Figo comes in both petrol variants. The car is blessed with full comfort and safety features. The car has got ample of interior space and five passengers can comfortably sit in the car. From the safety point of view too, the car comes as a true value for money and is bestowed with safety features like ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD, dual airbags, Power Steering, Power steering. The petrol variant of Ford Figo gives mileage of 12.5 kmpl in city conditions and 15.5 kmpl on highways whereas, its diesel variant gives mileage of 14.5 kmpl in city conditions and 18.5 kmpl on highways. It became the chart topper and won car of the year award. It replaced Maruti Alto at the number one position.

Volkswagen Polo

The German engineered car, Volkswagen Polo was launched on 5th January, 2010 in Delhi at the Auto Expo. The deliveries of Polo started from March. Since its launch the car has been on a huge waiting period. The car comes in both diesel and petrol variants. The petrol variant of the car gives mileage of 12.5 kmpl in city conditions and 17.0 kmpl on highways whereas the Volkswagen Polo diesel gives mileage of 15.5 kmpl in city conditions and 20.0 kmpl on highways. The well crafted interiors and standard features make this car different from other same segment products. The USP for this car was its low price starting from 4,42,000 (Ex-showroom New Delhi) with the Volkswagen Brand.

Chevrolet Beat

The car was launched on 4th January, 2010 and has been one of the most stylish and powerful small segment cars last year. The car was launched in 3 petrol variants and it gives mileage of 14.5 kmpl in city conditions and 18.6 kmpl on highways. The interiors of Chevrolet Beat and the looks of the car are fabulous. The car has got standard safety features like Anti-Lock Braking System(Optional), Central Locking, Power door locks, Child Safety locks etc.

Toyota Etios

Toyota Kirloskar brought sensational Toyota Etios Sedan in the end of last year and registered 12000 bookings within 15 days of launch. The car is available in petrol variants and gives mileage of 13.5 kmpl in city conditions and 17.6 kmpl on highways. Embeded with all comfort features and sufficient space, the car comes as true value for money in its segment. It has got safety features like Anti-Lock Braking System, Brake Assist, Central Locking, Power Door Locks, Child Safety Locks, Anti-Theft Alarm, Dual Airbags etc.

Volkswagen Vento

Another Volkswagen Product, Volkswagen Vento made its debut in the auto market last year and similar to Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento was highly appreciated by Indian Auto Fanatics. The car comes in both petrol and diesel variants, The petrol variant gives mileage of 11.2 kmpl in city conditions and 15.8 kmpl on highways whereas its diesel variant gives a mileage of 15.8 kmpl in city conditions and 20.5 kmpl on highways. The car comes with wide range safety features power door locks, central locking, EBD, Airbags etc and starts from the price tag range of Rs. 7,02,883 (Ex-showroom).
