Chevrolet Beat Diesel launch slated on July 25

The launch date of the most awaited zippy hatchback by the General Motors' Indian subsidiary, Chevrolet has finally been revealed. Chevrolet will finally be launching Chevrolet Beat Diesel on July 25, 2011 in the domestic auto market. Chevrolet Beat was launched last year in the Indian auto market and ever since it has been a huge success, the car helped in outpacing the company's sales in India.

Chevrolet envisages to rev up its sales with the diesel avatar of its most saleable hatchback in India. Gunning against the already existing diesel small cars in India like Ford Figo and highly popular Maruti Swift the company needs to price this small car smartly. Chevrolet Beat Diesel is expected to be tagged at Rs 4.3 to Rs 5.4 lakhs, adding on to the brownie points of the hatchback powered with a frugal diesel engine.

This sporty compact hatchback is expected to be an alter ego of its petrol sibling in terms of looks. New Beat Diesel will be adorning a 3-cylinder version of a multi-engine belonging to the Fiat family. The 1.0 litre engine is capable of churning out power of 57Bhp coupled with an excellent torque of 150 Nm. Low weight contributes towards the high performance, leading to the high fuel efficiency. The zippy hatchback has been certified by the ARAI, this small wagon is capable of delivering a staggering mileage of 24kmpl.
