Datsun, the wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan after successfully launching its hatchback Go, has now started manufacturing GO+ MPV at Renault-Nissan Oragadam facility in Chennai. The MPV is expected to be launched in the month of January 2015 through Nissan dealerships only.
The GO+ MPV is based on the GO hatchback and offers a seating arrangement for 5+2 passengers. Despite being a seven seater MPV, Go+ falls under the 4-meter mark and thus enjoys lower excise duties. The front profile resembles the baby hatch and the same can be said about the side profile. The only difference between the hatch is the extension of rear part. Inside the cabin, the MPV embraces audio system with mobile docking, bench-like front seats, follow-me-home headlamps, smart wipers, etc.
The car is build on monocoque body construction with dimensions of 3,995mm long, 1,635mm wide and 1,500mm tall. The MPV carries a 1.2-litre three pot cylinder engine that generates a max output of 67bhp with peak torque of 104Nm. The carmaker is also expected to bring the diesel model which houses 1.5-litre K9K engine that also does duty in Micra. Both the engines will be mated to five speed manual gearbox.
The manufacturer recently introduced the MPV in Indonesia with 5 color options namely, Bronze, White, Silver, Grey and Black. The car was offered with 4 variants namely D, A, T and T optional. Since the MPV is already available in Indonesia and by monetary conversion it is expected that GO+ in India will be priced in the range of Rs 4.50-5.50 lakh.
