As per the deal between Toyota and Suzuki, the Ertiga is confirmed to go on sale as a rebadged Toyota in India
-
Maruti-Toyota partnership include sharing of models like Baleno, Ciaz, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga .
-
Baleno is being sold as the Toyota Glanza, albeit in just two variants since early-2019.
-
Maruti Suzuki’s MPV is likely to be the next model to get a Toyota badge in India.
-
New Ertiga-based XL6 is offered with premium features and a rugged design over the donor MPV.
-
Between the Ertiga and XL6, the latter has more chances of hitting Toyota’s showrooms.
-
Like the Glanza, the Toyota-badged XL6 is likely to be priced similar to Maruti’s MPV.
The Toyota-Suzuki partnership was first announced in 2017 and a range of future model plans have been shared since then. However, it was just earlier this year that the automotive giants added the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV to the list of cross-badged models to be offered in India.
As was the case with the Toyota Glanza, which is a rebadged Maruti Baleno, Toyota will be introducing a rebadged version of the Ertiga as well. With the Maruti Suzuki XL6 being a more premium version of the same MPV, it might well be the version that will arrive at Toyota showrooms in the near future.
The XL6 is a 6-seater version of the Ertiga that is offered with a BS6-compliant petrol mild-hybrid powertrain and features a different styling than its donor car. Maruti Suzuki sells it via its premium Nexa chain of dealerships and prices range from Rs 9.8 lakh to Rs 11.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Toyota does not have any MPV offering in this price segment as it only offers the Innova Crysta currently. It is priced from Rs 14.93 lakh to Rs 22.43 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Here are the specifications of the Maruti Suzuki XL6:

Given its more premium styling when compared to the regular Ertiga, the new XL6 is much more likely to be shared with Toyota. Like the Glanza, it is expected to look exactly the same but with the Toyota badge in place of the Suzuki one along with minor differences inside-out.
It is also likely to get the same feature list as the two variants of the XL6. As a Maruti offering, the XL6 is available in two fully loaded variants based on the range topping Z and Z+ variants of the Ertiga. Some of the prominent features of the XL6 are LED lighting up front, LED tail lamps, cruise control, leather upholstery and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In terms of pricing too, as in the case of the Glanza and Baleno, the Toyota-badged XL6 will get a similar price tag as the Maruti. Here is the full price list of the Maruti Suzuki XL6:
