Dubai's Rostamani Group on an expansion spree in India

The Dubai based AW Rostamani (AWR) Group that has recently got the dealership for Honda Cars in India plans to expand its business in India. Currently in the automotive, real estate, interior design and IT industry, the Middle East conglomerates. Notably, AWR’s Automobile wing, Arabian Automobiles Company (AAC) was established in the year 1968 and it is the only distributor of Nissan Cars in Dubai and the Northern Emirates for over a decade and is also said to have acquired the local rights for Renault cars. The same company has acquired Honda SIEL Cars India Ltd dealership in India in September last year.

Now the company plans expansion in India and China considering these two countries as the fastest growing car markets in the world. Michel Ayat CEO of AWR Automotives reportedly said that expansion in India would depend on feasibility in India and he also considered Honda dealership in Delhi as a good start of business in India which according to him is the #1 emerging car markets in the world. In December 2010, AWR Automobiles entered into alliance with Zhengzhou NISSAN Automobile Co. Ltd and started selling the light commercial vehicles, SUVs and MPVs in Dubai and Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

In India Honda SIEL Cars India Ltd offers Honda Jazz, Honda New City, Honda CIVIC Honda ACCORD and Honda CR-V for sale in India. Honda is also hoped to introduce Honda CR-V diesel in India. Besides, India is also eagerly waiting for the sedan by Nissan that has been christened Nissan Sunny. Nissan has not yet announced the launch date of the car but it is expected that it will be launched towards the the end of 2011.
