After a long wait, we finally have the specifications of the Datsun Redi-GO. In a highly anticipated move, Nissan (Datsun, to be precise) has borrowed the 0.8-litre three-cylinder petrol engine from its partner Renault for its to-be-launched offering.
The power figures and mileage are the same as the Kwid of Renault. The engine will be able to deliver a maximum power of 53bhp at 5,678rpm with a peak torque of 72Nm at 4,388rpm. The mileage stands at 25.17 kmpl as well. Transmission duties will be carried out by a five-speed manual gearbox.
The overall dimensions are 3,429mm x 1,560mm x 1,541mm (L x B x H) and it wouldn’t be wrong to compare them with the Kwid’s (3,679mm x 1,579mm x 1,478mm) since the vehicles share various aspects. The shorter length and breadth might result in lesser legroom and space for the rear passengers in the Datsun Redi GO. The ground clearance is kept at 185mm -- 5mm higher than the Renault offering -- which is good news for those who frequently travel on unmetalled roads.
Though there is no confirmation regarding an engine with higher capacity (1.0-litre) on offer in the Redi-GO, it is highly anticipated. This is because Nissan, Datsun’s parent company, recently developed a diesel engine with a similar capacity, and it is probable that Datsun will introduce it in its baby hatch.
Datsun Redi-Go concept price has been announced as Rs. 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for the car are open as well, at a refundable amount of Rs. 5,000.
