CarDekho has been constantly updating you about the next generation Honda City, which is now expected to make its global debut on 25th November 2013. It has been surprising to see that only 31 units of the City sedan were sold last month as compared to 2,043 units in September 2013. This has also created some doubts in our minds, as we tried to contact various Honda dealers across the country. Now, it is confirmed that the new diesel-powered Honda City will come by early 2014. Moreover, the bookings for the vehicle have commenced, which means now one can book the vehicle by just paying Rs. 50,000.
On being contacted, couple of Honda dealers across the country told us that the current generation City is already sold out. Therefore, the new demand for this vehicle can only be supplied in the form of the 2014 edition for which deliveries are expected to commence after the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. We also learned that Honda could exhibit the next-generation City alongside new Jazz and Mobilio at the exhibition.
The all-new Honda City is likely to be available in six to eight variants with both the petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol model is expected to carryover the current 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine, while the diesel variants will get the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC, that also powers the Honda Amaze. However, the diesel engine will be tuned to bring down the NVH level of the car.
The new Jazz platform has been used to develop the new edition of the City sedan. The vehicle is expected to get an entirely new look. The next-generation Honda City will feature bigger wrap around clear lens headlamps with projector lights, new LED tail lamps, prominent creases on both sides and few others, making it look more sportier than ever.
