The Argo will replace the over-a-decade-old Punto, which has been a popular offering for Fiat globally for all these years!
2005 was the year when Fiat introduced the Grand Punto, a.k.a, the third generation Punto internationally. Styled by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Punto’s design stood the test of time and it still remains timeless, even after 12 years of existence.
That said, the Punto has been in production for too long and better-equipped rivals with sharper styling have overshadowed its Italian flair of late. Hence, to tackle that, Fiat has come up with its successor that sheds the ‘Punto’ label and will be called Argo. The name was announced last month and now the automaker has teased the new hatchback in a video. It will be revealed in Brazil in the coming days and in all probability, the Argo is likely to replace the Punto in India as well.
The Argo, as seen in the teaser videos, looks diametrically opposite to the car it will be replacing. It seems that the Argo will have horizontally placed headlamps with LED lighting and daytime running LEDs. The fog lamps will be LED as well.
The teased hatch is certainly the performance-oriented version of the Argo as it gets a dual-tone roof, spoiler and Abarth’s crazy-looking scorpion-inspired alloys. At the rear, it gets wrap-around LED tail lamps, much like the Fiat Tipo hatch. Stay tuned to Cardekho for the Argo’s reveal later this month.
