What's the desi petrolhead searching for on CarDekho? We've put together a list of the four most searched performance cars to tell you just that.
After all, 2016 has been the year of performance. Don't believe us? Check out the sheer number of performance cars that were launched in India! The biggest performance brands put their best foot forward, launching everything from big and brash SUVs, to nimble little pocket rockets, which found their rightful place on showroom floors.
We had Jeep introducing the iconic HEMI V8 engine under the hood of the monstrous Grand Cherokee SRT. Lamborghini brought their A-game to the table this year with multiple versions of the Huracan. Ferrari upped the ante by taking wraps off the Huracan's arch rival - the 488 GTB. Porsche launched the new 911 range, whereas Aston brought the sexy DB11 to our shores. If all of that is a bit too exotic, Mercedes-Benz served up the affordable 43 AMG line of cars, and Audi got the freakishly fast RS7 Performance to the table. Oh, did we mention the Godzilla was launched this year as well?
4. BMW i8
The BMW i8 - forgive the cliche - is a glimpse into the future. It is proof that an eco-friendly car can be fun to drive, and need not look drab. Armed with futuristic styling, a 1.5-litre petrol motor paired with a 7.1kWh battery and a claimed 47.45kmpl mileage figure - the i8 is as cool as sportscars can get. The near 2.8 lakh page views, by far, only affirms the fact.
3. Bugatti Veyron
Nudging past the i8 (barely just), with 2.9 lakh clicks, is the Bugatti Veyron. The Veyron was officially launched in India in 2010, at a rather exorbitant price tag of Rs 16 crore. Sadly, not a single one found an Indian home. That doesn't stop us from drooling over it, does it?
2. DC Avanti
India's homegrown sports car, the Avanti was the second most searched performance car on CarDekho. In 2016, it clocked a cool 4.8 lakh views putting it ahead of well-known sports cars from the big brands. In case you're still curious about the Avanti, here's our review.

1. Ford Mustang
We would have been surprised if anything else topped this list. The iconic Mustang finally set foot in India this year, with much fanfare. With over 5.9 lakh views, the V8-powered muscle car blasted past everyday cars such as the Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Terrano and the Chevrolet Beat. One lucky team member drove the Pony car around the Buddh International Circuit earlier this year. You can read about it here, and join me in being jealous.
