According to the latest information, an interesting piece of news is relayed from the US-based automobile company, Terrafugia. Carl Dietrich, the co-founder of Terrafugia has informed that they are eyeing the emerging car markets like India, China and Brazil for their innovative roadable aircraft, the ‘Flying Car’. It is evident that Indian car market is flourishing with new cars, concept cars and unique builds. This unique concept car is expected to be introduced globally in 2012.
With the Indians flair for new concept cars and growing interest in luxury cars, the car manufacturers are finding it a potential market for launching their new products. The new concept car is placed at a price of $ 279,000 and is reported to bag around 100 bookings already. The ‘Flying Car’ has the retractable wings which can be folded along the car sides to render a car like appearance, when on the road. The aircraft-cum-car can be easily transformed into the car with wings within 30 seconds with its wings spurting out into view to take the aircraft form. With its retracted wings, the ‘Flying car’ is compact enough to be parked inside the home garage.
The future proud owners of this unique car are supposed to acquire a spors pilot certificate, which can be obtained after flying the car for 20 hours under keen observation. The owners will be able to drive off the car from the garage like any other car to the airport to have the wings ready for aviation within 750 km of its drive on the runway. The lightweight car can accommodate 2 passengers comfortably with enough place for baggage and other essentials. The car is capable of flying 460 miles utilising the full tank capacity at a speed to 110 miles per hours. The Terrafugia is a Massachusetts based company founded by the Aeronautics students from MIT.
