The offroader will likely share its diesel powertrain with the 3-door Gurkha and is expected to get a 5-speed manual gearbox only

Launch expected later in 2024 with prices likely to start at Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
If there’s one model that has been spied on test nearly as much as an upcoming Mahindra SUV, it’s the Force Gurkha 5-door. We’ve been spotting its test mules since the start of 2022. It has been snapped in heavy camouflage once again, this time appearing to be in a production-ready avatar.
What Do The Spy Shots Show?
In the latest set of spy images, we can see that the offroader had the makeshift Force Citiline headlights and 5-spoke 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Force is expected to offer the production-spec Gurkha 5-door with circular projector headlights with LED DRLs. The spied model also featured the same tailgate-mounted spare wheel and snorkel as prevalent on the 3-door model.
It’s from the profile that you notice the major change over the 3-door model thanks to the elongated wheelbase and the additional set of doors.
No New Details On Its Cabin
We didn’t manage to snap the interior of the upcoming SUV but previous spy shots have hinted at a dark grey cabin theme. The 5-door Gurkha will likely be offered in a 3-row layout, with bench and captain seats in the second and third rows, respectively.
An older spied image had also revealed that unlike the 3-door Gurkha that gets a manual lever for engaging 4-wheel-drive (4WD), the 5-door model will come with an electronic shift-on-the-fly controller on the centre console.

Features And Safety Tech On Board
The Force Gurkha will likely remain a utilitarian offering even with the more spacious 5-door version, so we are not expecting the kind of feature additions that the Mahindra Thar 5-door will offer over its 3-door version. Force will likely equip the 5-door Gurkha with a 7-inch touchscreen system, front and rear (second-row) power windows, and manual AC with multiple vents. Its safety net should pack dual airbags, a reversing camera, and rear parking sensors.
What Will Power It?
The 5-door Gurkha should get the same 2.6-litre diesel engine (90 PS/250 Nm) seen on the 3-door model, though likely in a higher state of tune. It could get the same 5-speed manual gearbox, along with a 4-wheel drivetrain with a low-range transfer case.
Expected Price And Competition
We think the Force Gurkha 5-door could be launched sometime later this year, with prices likely to start at Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns directly with the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar, while being a larger alternative to the Maruti Jimny.
