One of the biggest launches for this year, the Ford Ecosport has been driven and we share our text and video review for the same. We have even compared the vehicle to the Duster in terms of styling and even specs and dimensions of the vehicle. The price of Ecosport is the only thing that is now we all are waiting for, and it will shared in June, when the car is officially launched. 

Mercedes-Benz GL-Class a major launch this week, as the German manufacturer even inaugurated another dealership in NCR and the global unveiling of the new-generation S-Class also happened in this week. Hence, it was a big week for the Stuttgart-based automotive manufacturer. On this occasion, we speak to the MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Mr Eberhard Kern to know the company’s future plans. 

Ford Ecosport against the Renault Duster. Who is the winner? 

Renault’s Duster has been a massive hit for the French automaker. The Duster is sold in India under the Renault badge rather than Dacia that is sold globally. It has a long queue of buyers waiting to procure this SUV. There has been a rise in demand for UVs in the Indian market and this is why most of the manufacturers are now preparing to introduce a compact SUV. It is the styling that has appealed to the masses, and many have either bought or booked one Renault Duster. Read more  

Apollo Tyres' Chennai Unit conferred with FICCI Quality Systems Excellence awards 

Apollo Tyres’ Chennai Unit, in the southern part of India, won the Platinum (first) Prize in the large size category  of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Quality Systems Awards for Manufacturing 2012. Mercedes-Benz India announced the launch of its world-class facility “Silver Arrows” in the burgeoning city of Noida. Conveniently located near the DND toll bridge at Sector 8, Noida, the new facility is spread over an area of 42,000 sq. ft. Official: Mahindra Verito Vibe Launching on June 5 

Mahindra & Mahindra has now officially announced to launch the Verito Vibe on June 5th in Mumbai. Like we reported earlier, the Vibe will be a sub-4 metre version of the company's flagship sedan, the Verito and will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo, Nissan Micra and others available in diesel. Ford engineers trade spanners for 3D sunglasses 

The room where Ford cars of tomorrow are fine-tuned appears slightly incongruous at first glance. Large white walls form a three-sided box with projectors throwing images on to each wall and the ceiling. Mounted in the middle is a dummy car interior. However, once you climb into the car seat and slip on 3-D glasses framed with motion detectors, the screens instantly melt into a hyper-realistic virtual world where you find yourself immersed in the computer-simulated interior of a new car. Will downsizing the engines help in sale of petrol cars?  

Several of the automotive manufacturers are now downsizing their engines, and the diesel turbos have already been a hit as not only it is cheaper to buy, but more efficient too. Recently, the trend has moved towards petrol engines. Turbocharged petrol engines are coming in. Volkswagen was the first to introduce a turbocharged on its 1.8-litre mill, then came Fiat in 2010 with the T-Jet. Read more

April was a declining month in sales for auto manufacturers 

The industry produced 1,684,011 vehicles in April 2013 as against 1,721,455 in April 2012, decline of (-) 2.81 percent over same month last year.The overall domestic sales in the month of April 2013 declined by (-) 0.34 percent over same month last year. Read more
