The Endeavour has gotten a mild update in 2019 and so we pit it against its arch rival, the Fortuner, in pics.

Ford has launched the mildly updated 2019 Endeavour with the prices ranging between Rs 28.19 lakh to Rs 32.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Ford’s largest offering in India gets minor cosmetic changes and tech updates to renew its rivalry with its premium SUV rivals like the Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4.

The Fortuner is its main segment rival and we see how the 2019 Endeavour fares against it, in pics:

    Width: 1855mm

The 2019 Endeavour’s minor cosmetic changes don’t really affect its proportions. It’s wider than the Fortuner and continues to look more rugged while the Toyota has a more business-like road presence with its sleek styling.

    Side

    Wheelbase: 2850mm (+105mm)

    Length: 4795mm

    Wheelbase: 2745mm

The Endeavour is significantly longer than the Fortuner with the longer wheelbase as well. Even in the side profile, the Endeavour has a more muscular stance with noticeably flared wheel arches. The Fortuner’s roofline is a more boxy design.

    Rear

    Height: 1835mm

From the rear quarters too, the Endeavour’s design is bulkier. The rounded tail lamps with the indicators that lead into the chrome bar across the boot-lid are also distinct from the Toyota. It’s slightly taller too.

The Fortuner’s sleek design language continues at the rear as well with the slim tail lamps and flatter boot design and the more noticeable roof spoiler.

The Ford Endeavour comes with 18-inch alloys wearing 265/60 rubber.

Toyota sells the Fortuner with 18-inch alloys for the 4WD variant with 265/60 rubber while the 2WD gets 17-inch alloys and 265/65 tyres.

    Dashboard

The updated Endeavour’s black and beige theme lends it a more spacious and airy feel as compared to the Fortuner’s darker colour themes. The dashboard layout of the Ford feels a lot more up-to-date as compared to the ageing Toyota.

    Infotainment

The 2019 Endeavour gets the Ford SYNC3 infotainment system with the 8-inch touchscreen display as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The Fortuner has a 7-inch screen for the infotainment unit but doesn’t have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

    Instrument Cluster

The Endeavour’s driver’s instrument cluster features an analog speedometer which is flanked by two digital screens for various vehicle information.

The Fortuner has a more typical instrument cluster with analogue dials for the revs and speed figures with an MID in the centre

    Sunroof

The Endeavour gets a panoramic sunroof. It makes the cabin of the Endeavour look airier.

    The Fortuner… doesn’t.

    Front Seats

Toyota Fortuner vs Ford Endeavour: Comparison Review

The Endeavour’s driver and co-driver seats are 8-way power adjustable. However, the base model gets a power-adjustable driver seat only.

The Fortuner meanwhile, offers an 8-way power adjustable driver and co-driver seat as standard across all variants.

    Rear Seats

The Ford’s middle row of seats has a similar layout to the Toyota however they do not have a tumble function which makes access to the third row a bit inconvenient. However, the Endeavour is the only in its segment where the last row of seats are power-folding.

The Toyota Fortuner’s middle row seats do offer a one-touch tumble feature for easier access to the third row. These seats also have a slide and recline function.

    Safety:

Various safety features come as standard on premium cars such as the Endeavour and Fortuner. The Ford SUV offers 6 airbags as standard with 7 in the top variant while the Toyota offers 7 airbags as standard. However, the Endeavour is also the only car in this segment to offer a hands-free semi-autonomous parking feature for parallel or perpendicular parking

    Engines

The 2019 Endeavour carries forward the same set of diesel engines as before - a 2.2-litre (160PS/385Nm) and a 3.2-litre (200PS/470Nm) unit.

Toyota offers the Fortuner with both petrol and diesel engines. The 2.7-litre petrol engine produces 166PS and 245Nm of torque while the 2.8-litre diesel unit produces 177PS and 450Nm of torque.

    Transmission

Both the diesel engines on the Endeavour can be had with a 6-speed automatic but the 6-speed manual reintroduced on the 2019 model is only with 2.2-litre engine. Meanwhile, the both of Toyota Fortuner’s petrol and diesel engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed auto.
