The car which is currently floating across the interweb is once again in news. Yes, the first production unit of Ford Figo Aspire, the compact sedan, has been rolled out from company’s Sanand manufacturing unit, Gujarat. This also means that the launch is about to happen in a few weeks of time. The dealers in selected cities of India have already started taking advance booking with upfront payment of INR 50,000. When launched, it will take on some of the formidable names in the class like Swift DZire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze.
We already know that the aura behind has already started gaining momentum with company tying up with actor/director Farhan Akhtar as the brand ambassador and commencing the pre-launch campaign “What Drives You?”. The campaign is on full swing along with the road shows that are about to happen in 25 cities across the country.
Ford will be bringing the all new Figo Aspire with both petrol and diesel engine options. The former will be the 1.2 liter TiVCT engine while the latter will be 1.5 liter TDCi mill. Besides the 5-speed manual transmission, the icing on the cake will be the optional 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission system mated to petrol engine, the first in the segment.
Company knows that it has to deal with some of the experienced players in the class, so it has well prepared or say really raised the bar with some of the class leading features like Ford SYNC and AppLink infotainment system that allows voice commands, app synchronization with Bluetooth, handsfree calling, MyDock and many more. Aspire will also feature 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and Emergency Brake Assist among other safety aspects.
With all the upmarket goodies, the price will be in the vicinity of its rivals i.e. in the range of INR 5 lacs to INR 8 lacs. So we have crossed our fingers and waiting for the grand launch event which will most probably be happening next month.
