It is expected to be available on the mid-spec Titanium and top-end Blu variants, possibly demanding a lakh over their corresponding manual variants.
Ford has officially confirmed that it will launch the Figo Automatic on July 22. Only the petrol engine will get the option of an automatic. The hatch was available with a 1.5-litre petrol-AT combination till the BS6 version was launched.
The Figo gets two engine options: a 96PS 1.2-litre petrol and a 100PS 1.5-litre diesel. The petrol engine will gain a 6-speed torque converter automatic in addition to a standard 5-speed manual transmission (even for the diesel).
The automatic gearbox is likely to be offered on the mid-spec Titanium and top-end Blu variants. The hatchback comes loaded with up to six airbags, a rear parking camera, automatic AC, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (Without Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), and rain-sensing wipers.
The Figo retails from Rs 5.82 lakh to Rs 8.37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The automatic gearbox is likely to demand a premium of around a lakh. It will rival the AMT variants of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. There’s no certainty of whether the automatic gearbox will be carried over to the Aspire and Freestyle, which come with the same petrol engine, as well.
