Ford India intends to export Ford Figo to newer markets

Ford India, the carmaker which is a hundred percent subsidiary of Ford Motor Corporation, USA has got some new plans for its popular hatchback Ford Figo. The company is planning to export its Ford Figo product to some newer auto markets. Few months ago, Ford India started exporting its Ford Figo product to the auto market of South Africa. Recently, the company also started exporting Figo to the auto market of Nepal. Now the company intends to export Figo to some other beneficial markets too. The car, Ford Figo brought a hope for the company which put all of its efforts and equipped the car with everything which the owner of any small car may demand for. 

Ford India Managing Director Michael Boneham commented that from next year, the company is planning to cover forty eight countries. In the beginning, the company will export Ford Figo to the markets of North Africa, Mexico, South America and in the region of Emirates. He also said that since its launch in South Africa, the car manufacturer was ranked in the category of top 10 car manufacturers. Boneham further added that recently, the company has received the additional orders for exporting two thousand more units. The company has agreed for exporting two thousand more units to the auto market of South Africa. By the year end, the company will be doing about seven thousand units, said Boneham. Commenting upon the focus of Ford India on exports, Boneham said that Ford India has made a plan for ramping up the Chennai facility and also to raise the supply chain base. Also, the auto major is planning to launch  eight new products in the mid of the decade. However, he denied to provide any further details. 
 
About the decision of Reserve Bank to increase the short-term lending and borrowing by 25 basis points, Boneham said that at first, the industry requires to analyse and assess the effect of the step by the apex bank. Boneham also made it clear that Ford India is happy to see the good demand for its product Ford Ikon and that is why the company has got no plans of phasing it out.
