After the blockbuster launch of the Ecosport, Ford will now introduce 4 more models in India in the coming two years. We share the models that will make it to our market. At the same time, Hyundai is preparing to introduce two new models this year and one of them is the Santa Fe. As the year is coming to an end, automotive manufacturers will continue to introduce several new products in the coming year but before that it is the 2014 Delhi Motor Show in February that is extremely important. In the last month of the year, Mercedes-Benz has introduced the SLK 55 AMG possibly the last launch for this year.
Ford India to launch 4 new cars by 2015
Like other carmakers, Ford India also sees huge potential in the developing Indian auto market to further enhance its business. In an aggressive product and development plans, the American automaker is aiming to launch at least 4 new products by the mid of this decade. This hybrid system will be mated to a manual transmission, which will help the company to make such vehicle more fuel economical up to 20 per cent. Renault Duster to get a new 4WD+AT variant - Russia
We reported earlier that Renault will launch the facelift and new variants of Duster SUV in the Indian car market. Mercedes-Benz GLA launched. Deliveries in May 2014, India-bound as well
Mercedes-Benz had unveiled its fourth offering on the MFA platform, and this was the GLA-Class, which was unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. With styling similar to the A-Class, the GLA-Class will be the new compact front-wheel drive SUV, and there will also be an option of automatic as well. The GLA-Class will also be offered with 4MATIC option as well. In Europe it will be available in GLA 200 and GLA 250 petrol engines and GLA 200 CDI and GLA 220 CDI diesel options. Hyundai could unveil new Santa Fe at 2014 Indian Auto Expo
India's second largest carmaker, Hyundai has been testing its all new Santa Fe on the Indian roads, which is expected to be launched in the country in 2014. The company hasn't revealed the exact launch date, but we expect it to be unveiled at the next year's Indian Auto Expo. This time the South Korean automaker will locally assemble the vehicle at its Chennai manufacturing unit to keep its costs down. Datsun GO+ MPV: Technical Specifications & Brochure Revealed
Datsun has finally revealed the technical specifications as well as the official brochure of its magnum opus MPV GO+, which will also make its way to the Indian car market. As we told previously, Datsun will be selling both the GO models, GO hatch and GO+ MPV, directly through Nissan Motors dealerships in India. It is now confirmed that both these products would feature Nissan Micra's 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, 12-valve, petrol mill which will be tweaked a little bit to facilitate both these vehicles. Read more
Toyota uses the first supplied 1.6-litre BMW diesel engine in Verso
If you recall, Toyota had tied-up with BMW for engines and fuel-cell technology. The first phase seems to be completed as the new Toyota Verso will have the BMW powered diesel engine. The Verso 1.6 D-4D compact MPV will be the first Toyota to be equipped with an engine supplied by the BMW Group under a contract agreed by the manufacturers two years ago. Read more
Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG launched at Rs. 1.26 crore
Mercedes-Benz, the German luxury carmaker has launched the SLK 55 AMG in the Indian car market for Rs 1.26 crore. The SLK 55 AMG is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 engine that churns out a maximum power output of 421bhp and 540Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to rear wheels via a responsive seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. It takes only 4.6 seconds to cross 0-100kmph mark and has an electronically limited top speed of 250km/hr. Read more
