The fourth-gen model is now offered in just two low-spec variants compared to before. It is only available with the 1.5-litre petrol engine (119PS/145Nm) mated to a 5-speed manual. Honda is no longer offering the older generation model with the CVT automatic option.
The new range-topping V variant will continue to offer comforts such as auto AC, touchscreen infotainment system, height-adjustable driver’s seat and power-folding ORVMs. With the loss of the higher-spec variants, the older City will no longer feature a sunroof, leather interior, LED headlamps as well as side and curtain airbags.
The fourth-gen City now makes more sense as an affordable alternative to the newer model as well as to its more economical rivals. In its top-spec, the fourth-gen City is cheaper than the entry-spec fifth-gen City by Rs 90,000. Both generations of the Honda City will continue to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Yaris and Hyundai Verna.
