GM small car production trials began
General Motors has began ground works to roll out its compact car in India by the year end. In this line, the company commenced production trials of the car. President and Managing Director of General Motors India, Karl Slym, has already confirmed that the small car would be developed on the Beat concept and would have multiple fuel options. It is learnt that the car will have the price tag of Rs 4 lakh. Slym added that the company plans to roll out new cars this year. GM India has already invested more than Rs. 5000 crores in setting up its plant in Halol and Talegaon. Its combined manufacturing capacity is to produce 2.25 lakh cars annually which it plans to increase upto three lakh cars per annum. A mid-size luxury sedan Chevrolet Cruze priced around Rs 12 lakh will arrive in September.
