On April 1, Honda Cars India updated its official website with the information on its upcoming compact Sedan- the Amaze, which will be the first ever diesel vehicle from the stables of Honda in India. The company also revealed the information about the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine, which will power the Amaze. And now the first official television commercial of the compact sedan has been aired in India, which too talks about the brilliant combination of power output and mileage, the Amaze is going to offer to its buyers.
As per the company, the 1500cc engine is the most powerful engine of its segment with the power output of 100PS (98.6bhp). And what excites us more is the fact that despite housing a 1.5-litre engine, it returns an whooping 25.8kmpl, which will make it the most fuel efficient car in the Country. Known for its world class petrol engine, Honda has surely brought 'the diesel revolution' with the introduction of 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine. Specially designed for the Indian market, the 1500cc i-DTEC diesel mill has used the architecture of the 1.6-litre diesel engine, which has been recently launched in Europe. The same hardware too has been used in order to reduce friction and weight, thus returning the optimum fuel efficiency and power at the same time.
Honda has also kick-started the bookings across all its dealerships in the country on April 1, 2013, while the official launch will happen on April 11. Coming both in the petrol and diesel versions, the Honda Amaze is likely to be priced around Rs. 5 lakh (petrol version), while the diesel must be priced close to Rs. 6 lakh. This will help Honda Amaze to be competing so well with its closest competitor Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, which today is leading the segment.
Since we have already driven the car, you can read our Honda Amaze road test experience to know the car much better. Cheers!
