The City Edge Edition is based on the SV variant and gets a bunch of new features at no extra cost
Honda has launched a special edition variant of its popular sedan, the City. Called the City Edge edition, it costs the same as the SV variant it is based on. For reference, the SV variant is the most affordable version of the diesel-powered City and the second-to-base variant of the petrol-powered sedan.
Price
Honda City SV MT Edge (petrol) - Rs 9.75 lakh
Honda City SV MT Edge (diesel) - Rs 11.10 lakh
*all prices, ex-showroom Delhi
What’s new?
- A special edition emblem
- 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels (the regular SV variant gets 15-inch steel wheels with cover)
- Reverse parking camera with display on IRVM (higher variants of the regular sedan get a 7-inch infotainment screen that doubles up as a display for the reverse camera)
- Rear parking sensors (No other City variant gets this)
The cumulative cost of the additional equipment on offer is expected to be over Rs 30,000.
Except for the new additions, the rest of the feature list of the Edge edition remains identical to that of the SV variant. It gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat anchors, day/night IRVM, LED DRLs, automatic climate control with rear vents, cruise control and an integrated music system. Other important features include electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, height adjustable driver seat and tilt adjustable steering.
The Honda City can be had with a 1.5-litre petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The i-VTEC petrol engine generates 119PS/145Nm, while the i-DTEC diesel engine is good for 100PS/200Nm. The petrol City is available with a 5-speed MT and a 7-speed CVT, while the diesel City gets a 6-MT only. Since the Edge edition is based on the SV variant, it only gets the manual gearbox.
The Honda City is priced from Rs 8.77 lakh to Rs 13.92 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It rivals the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, which is set to receive a facelift on August 20.
