Honda to Open New Facility in Rajasthan India, Launching Five new Cars

Honda Cars India is aiming to rule the Indian auto industry and Amaze diesel would be the first step towards this. The company is all set to launch the Amaze compact sedan on 11th April and will start a new assembly line at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The production unit will have a capacity of developing 120,000 units per annum and the first car will be rolled out from first half of 2014.

The Japanese auto giant will also open a fully integrated diesel parts and engine assembly unit with a capacity of producing 163,000 units per annum. An Additional manufacturing facility is also to be set up – capacity of 10 lakh units. The company will invest a sum of Rs. 6,700 crore to expand its project including activities at Greater Noida. Some of the diesel engine ingredients will also be exported to the UK market.

As a market strategy, Honda will launch five new diesel models in the Indian auto industry by the next three years. The company has given an additional role to Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, vice-president of Asian Honda Motor, now being appointed as a president and CEO of Honda Motor India. He will see all the operations such as product development, purchasing and manufacturing activities in Asia and Oceania.
