Honda India recently launched its cheapest small car Honda Brio in India at an extremely competitive starting price of Rs 3.5 lakh to ward of the competition from its diesel competitors. Honda Motors is also looking to increase the demand for the small car through exports from its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan to the neighbouring countries like Nepal and Bhutan from next year. The company already exports few of the Brio’s components to the Indonesian and Malaysian car markets.

To catch up with the demands, Honda India intends to ramping up its production capacity at its Tapukara plant to 100,000 units by mid- 2012. While declining to comment on the expected sales target for the Honda Brio sales, the Honda India foresees Honda Brio to achieve similar success to Honda City. Honda City has touched the peak sales during the month of August with 5000 units, with 60,000 units sales during the last FY 2010-2011. Honda Brio is offered in four variants in India with six colour options. Honda Motors, which is well-known for its high-safety models until now had to compromise on the safety measures to peg the Honda Brio price. The airbags that are offered as a standard in all the Honda cars are found to be missing in the base variants of Honda Brio hatchback. They are either available as optional package on the S (O) MT variant of Honda Brio or on the top variant Honda V MT
