Honda to slash Honda Jazz price

Honda Siel Cars India, the Indian subsidiary of Japanese car maker Honda Motor Company is planning a price cut of its hatchback car Honda Jazz. Moreover, Honda India recently lowered the price of its popular car model Honda City by as much as six percent.
It is worth mentioning that after lowering the price, the basic model of Honda car i.e. the Honda City EMT is currently available at a price tag of Rs 7.49 lakh. Ironically with this price cut, the company has ended up creating a disaster for Honda Jazz, whose top-end variant is priced at Rs. 7.56 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). Thus a Honda Jazz price cut is expected. The price figures show that the revised price of Honda City EMT variant is less then top-end variant of Honda Jazz which is most likely to act as catastrophe for Honda Jazz sales.
As per reports, with such pricing scenario, Indian customer will definitely drift towards Honda’s sedan car which offers more boot space, elegance and adorns faster engine under the hood, rather than Honda’s hatchback car. Furthermore, Honda City has already been the most preferred car of Indian consumers and in this condition, customers planning to buy Honda Jazz won’t mind shifting to Honda City paying a little extra money.
As per Honda car sales report of last month, company sold 1848 Honda City cars in comparison with 170 units of Honda Jazz. Now since, Honda’s hatchback car sales are dripping faster than expected, the company is left with no other option then revising the price tag of Honda Jazz.
Furthermore, reports suggest that Honda dealers across India are offering big discounts of around Rs. 50,000/- in an attempt to push Honda Jazz sales figures. However, till Honda Motor Company releases a diesel variant car, the sales figure of Honda Jazz can come down to double digit numbers.Additionally, with Honda Brio still in-line for launch in India, Honda Siel Cars in India comprises of Honda Jazz, Honda City and Honda Civic, Honda CR-V and Honda Accord.
